F-R-E-E, that spells “I can’t get this out of my head!”

Good thing our FCR team and clients had plenty of imagination — creating original songs that not only warned of the hazards of not knowing your credit score (living in your girlfriend's parents' basement, serving fish filets in a pirate costume, puttering around in a beat-up hatchback), but that also had catchy enough tunes to keep FCR in your head (all day long) and make FreeCreditReport.com a household name.
The copywriter/songwriter for these spots was David Muhlenfeld, who says he ”went away with my guitar and some cheap Chianti” to find inspiration. He also said of the spots, ”Repetition alone will make something stick in a listener’s head. The question is, once your song is in their head, will they want to stick that head in an oven?”
2 million YouTube views and countless spoofs later, it's apparent that ovens around the country remain head-free.
